Students at South Bank University Sixth Form (SBUSixth) have again beaten off stiff competition to secure their places as Engineering Degree Apprentices in 2022. Muhammed and Kazim, both completing their 6th form in July, have successfully completed the recruitment process and received their offers. Muhammed will be joining WATES and work towards gaining his bachelor’s degree as well as full chartership whilst Kazim will be joining our sponsor Skanska’s Civil Engineering Degree apprenticeship.
We are confident that both Kazim and Muhammed will be successful in this new phase of their development, as throughout their time at South Bank University Sixth Form, they have benefited from SBUSixth’s distinctive way of working. As part of their curriculum, both students have engaged with Construction Youth Trust, which supported them with several site visits, interview and assessment centre practice. Both students have also engaged with SBUSixth’s Year 12 work experience programme, with Kazim at Arup and Muhammed with Morgan Sindall.
Both students achieved additional qualifications to boost their employability: BTEC Level 1 in Health and Safety in Engineering and the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Green card. Kazim grabbed the opportunity to gain new skills through SBUSixth’s Level 4 Computer Aided Design (CAD) course run through the ASPIRE programme too.
We are delighted to see Kazim and Muhammed progress into strong destinations like so many SBUSixth students. We will be staying in touch so future cohorts of SBUSixth students can potentially benefit from their mentoring and support.
