Mentorship

Discover mentorship opportunities at SBUSixth.

WHAT YOU KNOW, IS WHAT THEY NEED.

Our business mentoring programme helps connect our students with experienced professionals who can help guide and direct them through the most important steps of their early careers.  Whether they are planning on a University or Apprenticeship route, the advice and guidance that you are able to offer will make a huge difference.  It will help them to break down any barriers that stand in their way and get them off to a flying start in their future.

All our mentors receive mentorship and safeguarding training and sessions will follow a structured programme of content and topics to help frame conversations that make the biggest impact.

How it works

We ask that you commit to meeting your mentor for three one hour meetings, between October and April. Meetings with your mentee will take place online and training will be provided beforehand.

There will be three mentoring sessions taking place between January and March 2022/2023. These will be approximately 4 weeks long.

We will work with the Mentor and Mentee to agree on the exact dates and time.

Each sessions will last approximately 60 minutes.

Training will be delivered online and will cover key areas such as safeguarding and how to be a mentor.

Sessions for the next academic year are planned to be delivered online. This will help us to remain covid safe and compliant. It will also benefit mentors who don’t live or work in close proximity to our Brixton hill campus.

Yes, we will offer multiple slots to allow mentors a time to suit them.

A mentor will be a source of knowledge, advice and guidance. They will follow the sessions structures to explore important themes with their mentees. This will help the mentees develop their understanding of our core values ‘Innovation, Integrity and Intent’ within an industry focus.

Sessions will be delivered on Microsoft Teams and will be recorded for safeguarding and training purposes.
