International Women’s Day #Girls4STEM
We were honoured to be invited by Amy Cable, SEE Package Manager at Skanska’s HS2 project team to meet a number of inspirational female engineers on the project, to find out about careers in civil engineering.
Heading to the project’s HQ at London Bridge, the girls were tasked with designing and manufacturing a container that could carry a bag of crisps, by mail, with the aim of the crisps remaining intact when they reach their final destination.
The parcels arrived at the UTC in various shapes and forms, and we were pleased to open them and discover that all of the crisps remained intact!
Despite the 9% industry standard of females in engineering (actually this number is thought to be more like 3-4%, South Bank UTC has more than 30% girls in its cohort.
